- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- I envision a vet med world where those who passionately care for our pets and animals are 1) celebrated, 2) supported emotionally, financially, physically, and socially and 3) are empowered as the leaders and experts of this profession in order to provide the very best care possible to their patients.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- The best advice I ever received was in working with clients with a high level of outward success (money, status, etc) who were deeply unhappy. They taught me to be very aware of and balanced in ALL forms of “wealth/success” including inner contentment; meaningful relationships; time abundance; physical health; and a deep sense of purpose.

- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- I would be a pegasus that can soar above it all to get a birds’ eye view and also be firmly planted on the ground, free to run with their herd, and occasionally go for a silly roll in the dirt.
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- I envision a veterinary profession where every workspace thrives as a safe and supportive environment that fosters autonomy, collaboration, and inclusion through passionate leadership teams that are well-trained, nurtured through coaching, and dedicated to the wellbeing of their team members.

- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- If I could be any animal, I would be the fabled unicorn that has the intuitive and sensitive nature of a horse, with the addition of mystical abilities, because what could be better?!
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- I believe if we take care of our team members, they will in turn have better capacity to provide excellent care for their patients, the clients will see and feel this resulting in overall happier clients. We can propel the entire veterinary profession forward by starting with our team members!

- My career in vet med began with a client focus. Oftentimes folks would say to me, I don’t know how you can do what you do, so much death. When in fact, that is what made me feel so invigorated by my role. I am able to physically see and hear about unconditional love, every single day (and sometimes in this world, that can feel rare). People would not feel sad, angry, or crawl into a cement kennel run to lay with an injured companion animal, if there wasn’t true love present. A Helen Keller quote exemplifies this sentiment: “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” ― Helen Keller
- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- I would be a manatee: they float around all day eating and farting (to stay buoyant). Sign me up for the curvy mermaid club and I’d be so content. They have no natural predators (just boat propellers), they exude a sense of peace, calm, and natural curiosity.
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- A sustainable and innovative field in service to animals and their families, in which professionals can make a lifelong career, individuals can find meaning and value in their work and teams can thrive on collaboration, trust and joy.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- Henry Ford did not stop his pursuit of automobile production for fear that there weren’t paved roads, traffic control or gas stations on every corner. Thomas Edison did not stop his pursuit of the light bulb for fear of the lack of an electrical grid. Innovation that changes the world uncovers and creates new problems which create opportunities for the application of other’s genius. Don’t let secondary challenges stop you from the pursuit of trying new ways of doing things, asking “how could I make this better?” and being willing to get it wrong with faith that when you do get it right, you’ll be making a significant difference for others.

- “If a voice inside of you says ‘you cannot paint’, by all means paint, and the voice will be silenced” – Vincent van Gough
- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- I would be a cat (specifically one owned by a sweet older lady), because sleeping for 18-20 hours a day is “normal” and no one expects cats to follow commands.
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- My vision for the veterinary profession is that someday, within my lifetime, every person who works in vet med will have access to mental health support services and every industry leader or practice owner will fully appreciate the value of providing that support.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- The best advice I ever received was: “You are not responsible for the outcome, you’re only responsible for the effort.” Remembering this has really helped me to stop driving myself to exhaustion trying to manage things that are ultimately beyond my control.

- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- I would be an Orca whale. They’re highly intelligent, have complex language and lifelong family bonds, and they get to spend their whole lives exploring all the magical hidden places in the ocean! (And BTW I could totally eat sushi every day for the rest of my life.)
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- I envision an animal care profession that is deeply rooted in empathy, communication and collaboration. I hope to see a future where we all support each other in our collective mission to provide the highest quality care, while also taking care of ourselves and more importantly, each other.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- The best advice I ever received was ‘the best work ethic requires the best rest ethic.’ I experienced a steep learning curve in realizing the power of recovery and retreat but now know that rest is not an option to cultivate my ability to be present.

- The responsibility for wellbeing belongs to both individuals and employers. Everyone needs to ‘take care of their business’ to truly achieve happiness and sustainability for the long-haul.
- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- I would be a horse, perhaps a draft horse. They’re intuitive, loyal, strong, graceful and have a free spirit!

- My vision for the veterinary profession is a thriving community built on mutual respect and meaningful relationships.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- The best advice I ever received was that if things are going poorly, don’t worry–it will change. If things are going well–don’t worry, it will change. This has helped me not be a victim of circumstances but to be ever creating my own mindset of peace and joy.

- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- If I could be anything, it would be a horse, particularly a red mare. Red mares are unapologetic in their own worthiness. They are bold, confident, and intelligent. You know where you stand with a red mare, and if you are willing to do your own work, they are fiercely loyal and will give you their all. Red mares are my guides, ,and if I could be anything, it would be among the wisdom of red mares.
- My vision for the veterinary profession is…
- My vision for the veterinary field is to ensure that all veterinary professionals receive the necessary support to effectively manage the difficulties of being compassionate caregivers while maintaining their health and well-being. These intelligent and generous individuals play a crucial role in promoting global health for both humans and animals. Effectively addressing the challenges that we face, both individually and collectively, will require a connected and innovative community.
- The best advice I ever received was…
- The best advice I ever received was to compassionately turn towards fear when it shows up in the face of discomfort of growth or new challenges and like a younger version of myself, take her by the hand thanking her for her concern, and have the courage to walk forwards with wisdom, awareness, and confidence in my capacities.

- If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
- A fruit bat! They are smart, social, and basically are like canids with wings! I think I may have been on in my past life with how much I love fruit in this life.
